Authors struggle to pay their bills

Indeed the condition of writers has been unchanged for years. They continue to live in poverty. I know a number of authors writing really well but finding it difficult to sustain in cities like Delhi and Mumbai due to dearth of money. Their works struggle to draw money required to pay utility bills and rents.

Most parents, as a result, shy away from giving their daughter's hand into an author's. Sounds ridiculous but it's true. You cannot tell in the society that you're a writer. People will certainly raise their brows and refuse to recognize your profession.

Shall I say that writers are living in abject poverty? I must take the liberty to declare them poverty-stricken. The government should announce a package to rehabilitate writers and authors who are forced to live in inhuman conditions and die with tuberculosis and malnutrition.

There should be free lodging with surety of clean and healthy lifestyle. This is a community that has suffered a lot and borne the brunt of society's harsh attitude. Their condition is poorer than, what is considered, the lower strata of the society--the scheduled caste and tribe. I urge the governments across the globe to pay attention to the needs of the authors and writers and offer them a chance to lead a respectable life. Or there will be a day when no author will be left to write good stuff. If it happens, future generations will never know how their forefathers lived, developed culture, etc.
