'Lootera' partly taken from O Henry's short story

It's just yesterday when I had a chance to watch 'Lootera' a new Bollywood period romantic drama film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. I liked the sincerity of the plot in the story which captivates viewers. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles have done a commendable job. At least, Sonakshi Sinha whose skills were not proven as an actress of this stature in any of the films , though big budget hit films with Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, etc, has gone a mile with her different outlook in the movie.

But this is not the agenda to pen this post. The agenda is based on the media articles which said 'Lootera' is a Mills & Boons story. I disagree. The movie is rather serious and is partly based on author O. Henry's 1907 short story The Last Leaf. The film is different from many Hindi movies and grabs the thread required for a movie to attain a respectable stature in the world cinema.

I expected that film-makers give credit to the classical story-teller O Henry for his story. It's fair to take inspirations from a masterpiece but a line of credit is often required.

However, I didn't like the background music in the last scenes of the movie. It wasn't in sync with the sad or inspirational tone of the latter part.
