Culture vs today's writing

Nothing bothers me most than the idea of being idle and empty. So I've decided to lay thoughts on the most contemporary topics in writing. Many believe that folklore is fading from the modern Indian literature. It sounds true when the facts are placed in front and we sit to read through a variegated array of shiny books released in last couple of years.  Culture is somehow getting the back seat. All writers seem influenced by the effect of modern life where folklore lives on the peripheries.

The question is not whether it is good or bad. The question is whether we are complete without it or not. Do we have to do anything with our ethnicity, roots and cultural background? Somehow the novels and books have started validating that insignificance of culture in our life, of which we were proud of in the past. It might be good. If culture is sidelined, we might probably stop identifying people with their region, religion, caste, creed, colour, etc. So this has positive implications because India and the world has suffered most because of these ill-gotten things.

However, the flip side is we are bound to each other through our cultural roots. The books which are largely focused on writing from the prism of modern lifestyle need to strike a balance between both. All of us have our roots which we are not able to shun at any cost. Even in offices, we talk of our villages, the folklore, the life there. We identify each other with our roots, to an extent. Thus, it is extremely important for authors in the modern
