Rabindranath Tagore's acclaimed work 'Gitanjali' is still residing in the hearts of millions of book lovers in India and the world. But the Nobel laureate's work was only available in certain languages until yesterday. But it is no longer the case. The book has got yet another avatar. The readers in other Indian languages will now be able to read the poetry in their own language. Yesterday, Mamta Banerjee's chief minister of West Bengal launched the book's new version on Tagore's death anniversary.
The book will enchant readers from other languages as well. It is a good beginning. It would be good if other famous works of Indian authors are translated into different other languages. It is not only good for literature but also good for the understanding of each other's culture in India. A lot of diversity bars Indians from understanding each other. These kind of steps are worth appreciating.
