Why aint authors favoring Modi's candidature

Politics seems to have gripped the psyche of our authors as they are not trailing behind in voicing their choice as to who should be India's next Prime Minister. Since the Bhartiya Janata Party announced their candidate--Narendra Modi, claiming to have sensed the voters' mind, many of our intellectuals have started raising their voice against or in favor of the BJP candidate. The Nobel Laureate Amaratya Sen clearly mentioned that he does not want Modi to be India's prime minister. His concern was that he is not in favour of poor and their welfare. However, the biggest concern is perhaps Modi's past which many including Mr Sen perceive as smutty with the blood of Muslims during the 2001 massacre post Godhra.

Later we heard Amitabh Ghosh clearly citing that he won't vote for Narendra Modi. The acclaimed author does not see him someone who can transform India's destiny. Therefore, while the popularity graph for BJP candidate is rising in and around, the intellectual class seem little upset on him being the Prime Minister. The BJP should take steps to convince our intellectuals, telling them how they can transform the country's fate.

I won't urge anything to our authors since they have every right to express their opinion. And I welcome their opinion when the election scene is getting hot.
