Will The Lowland clinch the Booker

Jumpa Lahiri seems to have unleashed a spell with her latest novel 'The Lowland'. It is creating buzz in the literary circles and has attracted attention from the Booker Prize committee. The winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Jumpa has, thus, got a fair chance to be among the elite club of Booker winners.

The novel has a synopsis that reads like this. Two brothers bound by tragedy. A fiercely brilliant woman haunted by her past. A country torn by revolution. A love that lasts long past death. This extraordinary, emotionally riveting new novel, set in India and America, expands the scope and range of one of our most beloved storytellers: the Pulitzer Prize-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Interpreter of Maladies and Unaccustomed Earth.

I won't reveal much about the novel, since it's up to the readers to decide how it fares and how it interests them. But it is probable that she might win the Booker this time. Vagabond Auther would like to extend her wishes for the Prize. She had created ripples with her novel 'Namesake' but it could not walk the red carpet. But her skills are proven with her brilliant track record and seriousness that she shows through her moving stories.
