Sophie Says, just a plain romance by Judy Balan

Judy Balan's Sophie Says is out. The novel's protagonist, Sophie Thilagam has quit her well-paying job. She has to deal with well-meaning aunts who are surprised to see her single at the age of 30. So the novel is kind of a marriage story. Moreover, her cousin is marrying and she does not have any excuse to say to marriage. Thus, Sophie Says gives a clear picture of the modern career woman's dilemma—to marry or not to marry.
Don't mind if this book makes you wonder why turning 30 gets today’s woman into marriage mode. Personal and social reasons are sure to put the woman in confusion and force her to get hitched. In order to evade her aunties and her mom, Sophie conjures up a man and then goes beserk when they want to meet her man. In such a situation, her friend hires a handsome man, Ryan.

So the novel is romantic comedy with all the filmy content, plot and characters. The story is no different. All of us have heard these stories often and laughed and sometimes overlooked. Well, you need to decide whether or not read this novel. You may probably find no value in spending a good number of rupees on it.

Although the book contains twists and turns, all of them are predictable, taken verbatim from a movie or a novel written before. You can buy it for Rs 350.
